      <description>&lt;br&gt;&lt;strong&gt;BLACK REP SEEKS YOUNG ARTIST MENTORS FOR NEW SUMMER PROGRAM&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Providence Black Repertory Company (Black Rep) is a non-profit cultural arts organization that produces and presents artistic performances that bring people together, provoke thought, inspire hope, and create understanding. Our dual mission&amp;mdash;artistic and civic&amp;mdash;provides for a unique experience across three key areas: Theater, Education, and Public Programs. Our work is inspired by the art and culture of the African Diaspora and embraces the values of community and democracy that are part of these traditions.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This summer, the Black Rep will launch &amp;quot;Carnival in the Capital&amp;quot;, a 3-week intensive Caribbean arts program that immerses young artists ages 10-14 in the collaborative, artistic, and cultural traditions of Carnival around the world through hands-on activities in Storytelling, Masquerade (mask and costume making), Steelpan, and Theater. The program culminates with a final parade performance at Kennedy Plaza during the week of Sound Session--- a week long, genre-defying music festival produced by the Black Rep and the City of Providence.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We are currently seeking 3-4 interns/volunteers to serve as Young Artist Mentors in a variety of creative and educational capacities. Rhode Island Council for the Humanities (RICH) seeks a Grants Assistant to help with administrative tasks for the Council&amp;#39;s grants program. The part-time position (20 hrs/wk) runs from April - December 2008 with a possibility to grow into a permanent, full-time hire. With the support of RI Resource Recovery, the Environmental Department at DPW is working to increase Providence&amp;rsquo;s recycling rate. This initiative exists to educate the Providence community about the importance of recycling and includes: educational programs at City schools; community outreach; workshops on recycling; etc.&amp;nbsp; In addition, the Recycling Office works to increase the public&amp;rsquo;s access to recycling information; seek additional sources of funding; and expand recycling services within municipal buildings. The Intern will provide support for these and other related projects. Five or more internships are available. In its pilot year, the office collected data about existing partnerships and curricular initiatives, established new relationships across the campus and in the local community, established the Fusion Arts Exchange Program and mounted a community-based exhibition of public practices in the arts. OPE builds upon many years of work undertaken across the curriculum and the academic community.       <title>The Master Composter / Recycler Program</title>

      <description>&lt;br&gt;The Master Composter / Recycler Program, conducted in partnership with the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation, trains volunteers to compost and to become advocates for composting and recycling within their local community and around the state.
